Ozzy Osbourne Was Kept at Home for Days After His Death

Kelly Osbourne has shared new details about the private days her family spent mourning Ozzy Osbourne following his death.

The Black Sabbath frontman died at his home in England on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76. In a new interview with Hello!, Kelly revealed that the family chose not to have his body taken to a morgue. Instead, he was brought home, allowing those closest to him to spend several days by his side.

“He came straight home,” Kelly said, explaining that the arrangement gave the family time to grieve together and make sure everything surrounding his final farewell was handled as they wished.

More than a year later, the 41-year-old said she is still learning how to live with the loss. She admitted that her father’s death changed her in ways she never expected and that she does not believe she will ever return to the person she was before he died.

“A part of me died, too,” she said. For now, she is trying to take life one day at a time and slowly rebuild after a period that left her emotionally and physically unwell.

Kelly has also faced public comments about her appearance during her grieving process. She said the criticism arrived at a time when she was already struggling and had little ability to deal with the cruelty of strangers. She is now receiving professional support and recognizes that recovery will take time.

Therapy, she explained, is helping her understand herself differently and address her mental health before focusing on anything else. She does not view healing as something that can happen after a single conversation or treatment session, but as work she will likely continue for the rest of her life.

During the most difficult period, the response from Ozzy’s fans became an important source of comfort for the Osbourne family. Kelly said they received and read the messages, flowers and gifts sent in his memory. Whenever possible, they also tried to personally thank those who had reached out.

The outpouring of affection reminded the family that Ozzy’s relationship with his audience went far beyond his music. According to Kelly, the support “saved us” and showed them how deeply his fans loved him.

Ozzy died just over two weeks after appearing at Back to the Beginning, the farewell concert held in Birmingham, England, on July 5, 2025. The benefit event reunited him with his original Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for their first performance together in two decades. It also marked the final live appearance of Ozzy’s career.

His funeral procession later traveled through Birmingham, passing several places associated with his childhood and musical history as thousands of fans gathered to pay tribute. A private funeral followed, and the musician was laid to rest on the grounds of his family estate.

Since then, Kelly, her mother Sharon and her brother Jack have continued to honor Ozzy publicly. On the first anniversary of his death, Birmingham held its inaugural Ozzy Day, while Kelly remembered her father in an emotional social media message about the difficulty of no longer being able to hold his hand or feel the sense of security he gave her.

She also wrote that she often recognizes parts of Ozzy in her young son, Sidney, describing those familiar expressions and mannerisms as one of the greatest gifts she has received since her father’s death.
